We have built a variety of new build affordable homes for sale or rent using a variety of approaches including self-build, volunteering and trainees.
Habitat Close & Gordon Road, Peckham (completed 2004)
Sixteen affordable homes were built in Peckham, south London, to help low income families achieve sustainable home ownership. This self-build programme required the prospective owners to take part in the construction of their homes as a form of ‘sweat equity’. Along with volunteers from the community and the site build team from Habitat for Humanity, this helped to build a sense of ownership and community.
Habitat for Humanity offers a creative route to the provision of affordable homes which centres around the values we have as a charity, and we are keen to find other suitable sites and partnerships to deliver more homes.
